FAQ

Q:  Which Operating Systems are supported?

Q:  What browser software is supported with Eurex Repo?

Q:  What Internet connection do I need?

A:  For performance reasons, we recommend as a minimum an internet connection (128kbit/s).

Q:  Does Eurex Repo need to know the IP address of the client / USP Proxy PC?

A:  No, Eurex Repo does not need to know the IP address of the client, and hence DHCP can be used.

Q:  Do I need an officially registered IP address to use a leased line?

A:  No, addressing must be agreed with the leased line provider.

Q:  Can we use NAT (Network Address Translation) to connect to Eurex Repo?

A:  Yes, with both Internet and leased line connection.

Q:  Have you got a list of applications which would not run correctly together with the Eurex Repo application on the same PC (especially Microsoft products)?

A:  We have been performing system testing on PCs which have Microsoft Office together with a number of other products installed. The only applications which appear to cause problems are other VPN (Virtual Private Network) products, which cause conflicts with the tunnelling software used by Eurex Repo (Cisco VPN Client), pcAnywhere and Remotely Possible (see FAQ Is it possible to administrate PCs running the Trading Client GUI remotely via pcAnywhere or Remotely Possible?). Naturally we cannot guarantee that Eurex Repo works correctly with ALL other applications. If you wish to run other applications on the same PC as the Eurex Repo application, we ask you to test this in the Membertest environment.

Q:  Is it possible to administrate PCs running the Trading Client GUI remotely via pcAnywhere or Remotely Possible?

A:  There is a known problem with pcAnywhere that will not allow the Java plug-in shipped with the Java Runtime Environment to run while pcAnywhere is running as a host. Using Remotely Possible you get an error deleting the MPKey.code file. You will need to shut down pcAnywhere and Remotely Possible and then the GUI will start.

Q:  Where are the FAQs for the Cisco VPN Client?

A:  See: https://www.six-swiss-exchange.com/members/cvi/faq_en.html (Username and password can be found in the sealed envelope. Use "CVI Group Authentication Name" and "CVI Group Authentication Password")

Q:  I cannot access the Secure Eurex Repo Page to download software, etc. (the browser displays a message similar to "The page cannot be displayed...")

A:  Firstly you need to check that the Cisco VPN connection is running on the PC (for Membertest or Production as appropriate). Assuming this is OK, the problem is most likely caused by use of a proxy server. You need to add the Secure Eurex Repo Pages to the list of Proxy Server exceptions (see FAQ I can start the Trading Client GUI, but cannot access the on-line help or the statistics page the browser displays a message similar to "The page cannot be displayed...").

Q:  What should be done in case of the following Message: "Your system's time is 3600 seconds behind the Repo server time! Please adjust it to be within 300 seconds."

A:  This message appears when daylight saving time is not set on your PC, even though the time is displayed correctly. To correct this, you should do the following: open the clock window either by double-clicking the time displayed on the taskbar or selecting Date/Time from Control Panel.

  • select the "Time Zone" tab
  • check the "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" flag
  • select the "Date & Time" tab
  • adjust the time
  • click on the OK button

Q:  I can start the Trading Client GUI, but cannot access the on-line help or the statistics page (the browser displays a message similar to "The page cannot be displayed...")

A:  If you normally use a proxy server with your web browser, you must disable the proxy server for the Eurex Repo websites. To do this, check the following settings in your Browser:

  • For Microsoft Internet Explorer, use the Tools | Internet Options | Connections tab.
Ensure that the following address is added to the list of exceptions: *.pn.swx, *.ps.swx (or if you are using a USP Proxy, simply add the IP address / hostname of the USP Proxy).

Q:  The Trading Client GUI dies after waking up the computer when a screensaver is installed.

A:  There are three different workarounds for this problem:
  • Replace the PC by a faster machine since only relatively slow machines are affected.
  • Choose a screensaver without 3D effects, since they need much more resources than others.
  • Add the line "-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true ^" in the batch file which starts the GUI (default: "TradingClientGUI.bat") below the line "-Dswx.ric.applHome="%APPLHOME%" ^".

Q:  Can I download the Repo software using a USP Proxy?

Q:  Can a USP Proxy be shared by more than 1 participant?

A:  Yes, contact the Technical Helpdesk for further details.

Q:  USP Proxy Power Management settings

A:  To avoid problems with the USP Proxy, please disable all power management settings in the BIOS and Operating System.

Q:  Can I run the USP Proxy Processes (USPRPC & USPBCT) as Windows 2003 Services, rather than applications?

A:  Not currently. It is planned to include this possibility in a future version of the software.

Q:  Should the USP Proxy PC be on the outside or inside a firewall?

A:  The USP Proxy PC should be inside the firewall. Having the USP Proxy outside the firewall is not secure, since the ISP and/or telecom provider can then potentially see the decrypted network traffic. The firewall must be configured to allow traffic on respective ports without content screening. The configuration of this port should only allow forwarding to the USP Proxy PC and not to any other node. You may also wish to place a 2nd firewall between the USP Proxy and the client PCs (i.e. create a Demilitarised Zone). For further information, see the "Eurex Repo Installation Guide".

Q:  Is it possible to use a USP Proxy with the Internet connection solution?

A:  With a permanent internet connection (24 hours-service => no Dial-Up or Dial-on-Demand) the USP Proxy could also be used.

Q:  I am using a leased line connection or have no "normal" Internet access - how can I connect to the Secure Eurex Repo Page to download software, etc.?

A:  To reach the Secure Eurex Repo Page via a leased line connection, you can enter the URL directly into the Address field of the Web Browser:

Test Environment:
http://rmtws.pn.swx/M01/RO/RSW/web/priv/index.html

Test Environment via USP Proxy:
http://usp.proxy.ip.address.here/M01/RO/RSW/web/priv/index.html

Production Environment:
http://rprws.pn.swx/P01/RO/RSW/web/priv/index.html

Production Environment via USP Proxy:
http://usp.proxy.ip.address.here/P01/RO/RSW/web/priv/index.html

Hint: You can bookmark these pages (add to Favorites/ Bookmarks) to avoid having to retype the address.

Q:  Is it possible to have a direct leased line (ordered from e.g. Swisscom) to Eurex Repo without using the leased-line solution from Verizon Business, BT Radianz or Deutsche Börse Systems AG?

A:  No, this is not possible. The two connection choices are Internet and leased-line solution from provider Verizon Business, BT Radianz or Deutsche Börse Systems AG.

Q:  Can we change where the logs from the Trading Client GUI are written to?

A:  Yes, contact the Technical Helpdesk for further details.

Q:  Does the communication for settlement and margin activities also run via the Internet?

A:  Settlement and margin activities are dealt with by the appropriate Clearing & Settlement organisations and therefore their communication methods are used.

Q:  Is it possible to print Trade Slips with the Eurex Repo application?

A:  Yes - see online help for further information.

Q:  How can I get the trade information into my back/front office system?

A:  1) Manually enter the details from the printed trade slip
OR
2) The Eurex Repo OTX application (Own Trade Extractor) produces a text file with the details of Own Trades (see document "Eurex Repo Own Trade File Interface Specification" available under Documentation on the Secure Eurex Repo website). You can import this text file into your back/front office system to record your trades.
OR
3) Use the trade confirmation sent by the settlement / clearing organisation to yourselves.
OR
4) Use the Eurex Repo PAPI (Participant API) to develop a POA (Participant Own Application), which requests the trade details and processes this information as required.

Q:  Do you have any documentation on how the Eurex Repo client software runs and/or what it does technically speaking?

A:  In summary, the Eurex Repo client application:
  1. is a stand-alone Java application (i.e. runs outside the browser) and therefore requires installation of the Java Runtime Environment provided by Eurex Repo.
  2. it does not write to the local PC's disk except for the user profile and trace/log files.
  3. does not amend any Registry settings. It uses an .INI file to configure settings, since this is portable across different operating systems.
